Victims of deadly Wilbraham crash identified

Three were thrown from the car in Monson Rd. accident

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) -Two young men were killed and another was seriously injured after a car crash on Monson Road in Wilbraham Tuesday night.

Police Chief Roger Tucker notified 22News that Nathan J. Raffol, 19, and Nolan Toski, 23, both of Wilbraham, died from their injuries in the single-car accident. A third person in the car, 24 year-old Adam Surrette of Springfield, is listed in critical condition at Baystate Medical Center.

According to Tucker, around 8:30 P.M., the young men were heading westbound on Monson Road, when they struck a guard rail and utility pole near Bolles Road. The car continued across two lawns of homes on Monson Road, and rolled over; throwing the three from the vehicle.

Toski died at the crash site, Tucker said, and Raffol and Surette were brought to the hospital by ambulance. Raffol died at the hospital, while Surette underwent surgery.

Police do not know who was driving the car at the time of the crash, which is being investigated by Wilbraham police and the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.

Tucker says that witnesses reported the car may have been speeding prior to the crash, but further investigations will take place Wednesday to take measurements in the daylight.

The crash site spans about 600 feet, Chief Tucker said.

Part of Monson Road was closed to traffic overnight as police looked into the crash, but has since reopened. Wilbraham police say that they may close Monson Rd. again during the day as they continue their investigation.
