SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A popular summer spot is back open after a year of rebuilding from a devastating fire.
People are now enjoying dining and drinks with a view of the Connecticut River at the Dockside Restaurant at Brunelle’s Marina in South Hadley.
A fire in July of last year destroyed the family-owned restaurant, as well as a work area for the marina.
It has been a tough year of rebuilding, and owner Luke Brunelle told 22News that this winter delayed their work by six weeks.
But the new Dockside has been open for two weeks now, with steady business and new menu items in addition to their popular clam chowder.
Brunelle said it might take a bit to get everything back to how it used to be.
“We are gaining a few items every day and our learning curve is strong. There’s a lot of new people. We employ about 60 people that are all brand new and don’t know our register systems, they don’t know our other systems, but we’re doing the best we can to get everybody trained and up to speed,” he said.
Brunelle said the Marina is going strong, with many returning workers who are helping to build new offices and a showroom next to the restaurant.
There will be a grand opening on the one-year anniversary of the fire: July 26.
