State Police crackdown on distracted driving


SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – State Police are doubling their efforts to stop distracted driving. They call texting behind the wheel  ‘a deadly epidemic’ in Massachusetts.

It is illegal for anyone to send or receive messages while driving in Massachusetts. A first offense is $100, $500 for repeat violations.

Troopers in marked and unmarked vehicles will show zero tolerance for offenders during this stepped up enforcement effort that is scheduled run through June 28th.
