Bikers raise money to fight cystic fibrosis

It's estimated that cystic fibrosis afflicts some 30,000 Americans.

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) – A group of Western Massachusetts bikers got together Sunday to raise money for the thousands of children and grown ups who suffer from cystic fibrosis.

“When it comes to kids bikers are always the first one in line,” said Charley Burke of South Hadley.

Dozens of bikers joined together for their run from Southwick to Chicopee.

Organizers told 22News, more concern is needed for people who suffer from the debilitating efforts of the lung and digestive system disease.

“A lot of people don’t realize that cystic fibrosis is a debilitating disease. There are a lot of different rides for cancer but we wanted to do this first ride for cystic fibrosis,” said organizer Tony Perry.

It’s estimated that cystic fibrosis afflicts some 30,000 Americans. There is still no cure
