WARE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Hampshire county town of Ware knows how to celebrate the first day of summer.
The people of Ware celebrated with as many as one hundred tag sales. It’s a tradition that goes back years, when the town needed to repair its iconic meeting house
Now the first day of summer tag sales help improve the historic building, but not everyone rushed out searching for bargains.
“Actually been kind of quiet, kind of surprised, it’s a beautiful day, people should be shopping but they’re probably at the beach,” Doreen Harder of Ware said.
Townspeople say they’re proud their once endangered meeting house is now on the list of the one thousand places to visit in Massachusetts.
