Family rescued from the Connecticut River

Springfield's rescue boat towed the boat to shore

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A family of three found themselves stranded on the Connecticut River Friday night, when the motor died on the boat they were operating.

According to Chicopee Deputy Fire Chief Joseph Crevier, Chicopee Fire launched a rescue boat from the Medina Street boat ramp, and called the Springfield Fire Department for assistance. Springfield also launched a boat.

Springfield’s boat encountered the man, woman, and their young child first, and safely towed them to shore.

No one was injured.
