Long-standing eyesore in Indian Orchard to be demolished

The property has been vacant for 7 or 8 years

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno was joined by members of the Indian Orchard Citizens Council Thursday to announce the demolition of 10 Parker Street.

The city-owned, tax foreclosed property has been vacant for the last seven or eight years.

Deputy Director of Code Enforcement David Cotter told 22News the vacant house posed a serious danger to surrounding buildings.

“If something started as a fire here then we’d have quite, it could run right down the street and it could take out four or five business or some of the residential area that’s in here too,” said Cotter.

Mayor Sarno said the City will now explore future uses for the property.
