WESTMINSTER, Colo. (KUSA) Cinco de Mayo is a day Melissa Plessinger would like to forget. She got a letter that changed her life.
It was anonymous. Whoever wrote it wanted to tell her that the man Melissa knew for 47 years as her father, wasn’t her biological father.
A phone call to her mother confirmed the letter was true.
“I kind of collapsed,” Plessinger said. “Then I was kind of in a fog for a couple weeks.”
Plessinger said her entire life people always said she didn’t look like her family. After her emotions faded, she set out on a mission to find her real father.
