AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – There are literally hundreds of young authors in Agawam. Six tables at the Agawam Public Library were covered with books published by 300 8th graders from Agawam Junior High School.
They just completed a four-month workshop, learning what it takes to come up with a concept and take it to publication.
“I think they were a little overwhelmed at first,” said English teacher Stephanie Harris. “It took some time to get through the program. Once they found their idea, they ran with it. It really took off from there.”
Harris told 22News the kids worked hard, learning how difficult it is to write, that writing is a process, and that nothing is ever final.
Each of the 300 8th graders will receive a copy of their book. The other will be in placed in the Agawam Library.
