Severe thunderstorms cause power outages

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP)–Strong winds and thunderstorms came across the Pioneer Valley starting at about at about 2 A.M. Wednesday.

The storm caused several hundred power outages in Western Massachusetts. A few dozen of those outages were in Berkshire County in the area of New Marlborough and further north near North Adams.

According to the Western Massachusetts Electric company’s outage map, more than 360 houses in Russell lost power between 2 and 3 o’clock Wednesday morning.

22News also tracked reports of power outages in Huntington and Worthington.

Palmer Police dispatcher John Lefevre told 22Newsthere is a tree down on High Street in Palmer.
