WARE, Mass. (WWLP) – Thousands of utility customers statewide remain without power, following storms that moved through overnight.
As of 10:30 A.M., more than 4,700 National Grid customers were without power statewide, with more than 1,000 in New Marlborough without electricity, and smaller outages in Palmer, Wilbraham, and other communities in eastern Hampden County.
Early Wednesday morning, National Grid Spokesman Jake Navarro told 22News 700 customers in Ware and 337 in Palmer were without electricity. The outage in Ware has since ended.
Navarro says crews are working to repair the damage, and power should be restored soon.
He says the outages started around 3:30 A.M. and while there’s no exact cause, they all have to do with the storms that moved through the area overnight.
Western Massachusetts Electric Company is reporting smaller outages scattered across western portions of Hampden and Hampshire Counties, as well as Berkshire County.
