Holyoke stabbing suspect arrested

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Police have arrested a man who allegedly stabbed another man in the chest Monday afternoon.

Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert told 22News that Jose Morales, 22, of Holyoke, was arrested around 10:00 Monday night. Albert says that during the arrest, police found more than 40 bags of Heroin on the suspect.

Morales faces several charges, including armed assault to murder and possession of a class A substance (heroin). He was ordered held on $100,000 bail during his arraignment late Tuesday morning in Holyoke District Court.

Lt. Albert said that the 26 year-old stabbing victim had surgery for his wounds, and remains in critical condition.

Holyoke Police are still investigating the case, and anyone with information is asked to call the Holyoke Police Criminal Investigations Bureau at 413-322-6940.

Police had cordoned-off the intersection of Mosher Street and Center Street for hours Monday afternoon as they investigated the stabbing.
