WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — The three Democratic candidates for state treasurer have all qualified for the September primary ballot after a vote by delegates at the state party convention.

Former Brookline selectwoman Deborah Goldberg topped the balloting with 39 percent of the vote, followed by state Rep. Thomas Conroy of Wayland with 34 percent. Goldberg and Conroy agreed to forego a runoff to determine the party endorsement.

State Sen. Barry Finegold of Andover finished third with 27 percent, but that was still above the 15 percent required under party rules to advance to the primary.

Goldberg said she would use the treasurer’s office to combat social inequality.

Conroy said he would use school building funds to build classrooms for pre-kindergarten students.

Finegold promised to divest state pension funds from fossil fuels companies.
