Vet Center dedicates flag in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The stars and stripes are now hanging proudly outside the Springfield Vet Center.

The Vet Center moved to a new facility last July, but the building did not have an external flag pole.

Now, months later, veterans were able to salute the American flag outside the Springfield Vet Center.

Springfield Vet Center Team Leader Stan Gajda told 22News, “Those that fought and have earned the privilege of calling themselves veterans put that weight and value on the flag it means much more than just our nation’s colors, it means that they fought and died for it.”

The Friends of the Springfield Vet Center was able to purchase the flag through donations from Smith and Wesson and the AmVets Post 12 in Chicopee.
