CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – We’ve seen quite a bit of rain lately and in some cases there have been some very heavy downpours.
Slow moving showers that dump a lot of rain can lead to flash flooding. Over the last couple of weeks some cities and town have experienced significant street flooding due to showers and thunderstorms that have moved through the area.
It’s important to avoid areas that are prone to flooding.
Amy Galaska of Westfield told 22News, ”Like in Westfield we do have bridges and they are kind of shallow and it fills up pretty high with water so those areas I do have to avoid and I have to go around.”
In Chicopee last month, a car got stuck in a flooded underpass. Remember when water is covering the road, the best advice is to turn around, don’t drown.
