How the wet weather is affecting WMass residents

CHICOPEE. Mass. (WWLP) – It was a cool and wet end to the work week and this spring we’ve seen quite a bit of rain.

For the month of May we picked up over 6 and a half inches or rain and so far this month most areas have gotten more than an inch of rain and it continues to come down.

Despite the wet weather most people 22News talked to aren’t too discouraged.

“I was gardening yesterday so I was kinda glad for the cool mist instead of the hot sun, but you know I don’t mind a little rain as long as I’m not cold and wet,” Steve Pierce of Westfield.

“It hasn’t been too, too bad we were happy for the weekend we had a graduation party it was beautiful Sunday but a lot of rain and we’re happy to be heading out to Florida in the morning so hopefully no rain there,” Lisa Martin of Monson.

“It’s an awful lot of rain I’d like to see some sunshine once in a while, I guess we’re going to get some this weekend and I’m really looking forward to it,” Amy Galaska of Westfield.

Despite all the rain we’ve seen this spring rivers are running on the low side. The Connecticut River is down below its banks a far cry from what it was earlier this spring.

In fact some people had no trouble putting their boat into the water.
