Guard rail repair work caused delays on I-91

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An accident involving a dump truck that happened on Friday morning has been clear for hours, but a project to repair the damage from that accident caused new backups on the highway in the evening.

There was heavy delays on I-91 northbound and southbound as crews work to replace the guardrail around Exit 8. One lane of I-91 in both directions was closed, causing backups from as far away as Enfield, Connecticut on the northbound side and West Springfield on the southbound side.

According to State Police in Springfield, there were accidents on I-91 southbound at Exit 13 and at Exit 3, though those have been cleared.
