Full moon falls on Friday the 13th

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s a rare phenomenon and as 22News explains, it’s going to take place on Friday. It isn’t just Friday the 13th; there will also be a full moon too.

The last time there was a full moon on Friday the 13th was on October 13th, 2000.

Some people who are superstitious consider Friday the 13th to be unlucky and some people think strange things happen when there is a full moon. Most people 22News talked to weren’t all that worried about Friday the 13th and a full moon occurring on the same day.

“I am not superstitious but the full moon does make my kids a little on the ‘nutso’ side,” said Beth Yound of Wilbraham.

“No doesn’t do anything for me I think weird stuff happens all the time,” said Terry Lyons of Springfield.

The next time there will be a full moon on Friday the 13th will be in 2049. It’s also the full strawberry moon which comes from the fact that it is occurring during the strawberry season.

The full moon will occur at 4:12 Friday morning.
