WHATELY, Mass. (WWLP) – Whately voters decided now was not the time to spend nearly four million dollars fixing up the town hall.
Whately Town Clerk Lynn Sibley told 22News Nearly half the towns voters went to the polls Tuesday to reject “Question 1,” which called for a proposition two-and-a-half debt exclusion to fund renovations and possible additions to the Whately Town Hall.
The vote failed with 344 “no” votes to 213 voting in favor.
Sibley said the project would have added about $3.9 Million dollars that would have had to have been paid through property taxes.
Voters said “no.”
