SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) – A tractor trailer truck crashed into a utility pole just off College Highway (Routes 10, 202, and 57) in Southwick, knocking out power to a nearby shopping plaza.

Police Sgt. Kirk Sanders told 22News that around 9:30 A.M., the driver of the truck had parked it on Prifti Way (Bonnie View Rd.), and after he had gotten out, the truck’s brakes apparently gave way. The truck rolled into the utility pole, splitting it in half.

Sanders said that wires are down, and that there was a transformer on that pole, which has made the cleanup all the more difficult. He said that the businesses at the nearby Southwick Plaza will likely be without power well into the afternoon.
