WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A former sex education and health teacher at a central Massachusetts charter school has been charged with raping a 14-year-old boy.

Rachelle Gendron was released on $2,000 bail after pleading not guilty Monday to charges including enticement of a child under 16-years-old and rape aggravated by age difference.

Prosecutors say the 27-year-old Gendron had sex with the student five times from October 2012 to March 2013. Investigators say they found text messages between teacher and student “in various states of undress with genitals and breasts exposed.”

She has been fired from her job at North Central Charter Essential School in Fitchburg, where she had worked for five years.

Gendron’s lawyer tells The sentinel & Enterprise that his client “maintains her innocence and intends to defend” herself in court.
