GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP-AP) – Police in Greenfield are looking into a bizarre crime involving the theft of more than two dozen mailboxes.

Greenfield Police posted on their official Facebook page that some 29 mailboxes were found dumped on Interstate 91 near the Wisdom Way overpass.

Police were called to the area around 4:00 Monday morning that there were some kids tossing rocks off the overpass to the highway below.

There were no children there by the time police arrived, but they did recover the mailboxes; some of which appeared to have been flattened by passing cars. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries.

Greenfield police believe the boxes were stolen from homes in or around Upper Road and Lower Road in Deerfield, and on Wisdom Way and Munson Street in Greenfield.

If your mailbox was stolen, you are asked to call your local police department to report the crime, and then go to the Greenfield police station to pick up your mailbox.
