CHELMSFORD, Mass. (AP) — State Police say a motorist and a young passenger were killed when their car crashed at the Chelmsford rest area on Route 495.
Police say the driver, 43-year-old Han Van Hoang, of Quincy, and the unidentified 3-year-old girl died at the scene shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.
Their car was southbound on Route 495 in Chelmsford when it veered to the right, crossed a raised island that separates the highway from the entrance to the Chelmsford rest area, continued through the grass and hit a metal guardrail.
Police say it’s not yet known why the car veered.
