LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Children across the country and right here in Western Massachusetts are raising money this weekend to help fight childhood cancer.
An estimated 17 hundred lemonade stands were set up this weekend in communities across the country, two of those were in Longmeadow on Saturday.
Members of the Longmeadow Kids Care Club participated in the nationwide Alex’s Lemonade Stand, National Lemonade Days.
All the money donated goes towards childhood cancer research.
One parent told 22News she is proud to see her kids contributing to the community and to see them learning something while they do it.
“I think it is also nice for them to see how generous the people can be for the cause. It’s a good thing for them to witness,” Lisa Kelly of Longmeadow.
The children in Longmeadow set a goal to raise more than $1,000, a total they surpassed during last year’s lemonade stand.
