Holyoke raises Pride flag to celebrate diversity

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse raised a colorful flag Friday to encourage diversity in the City.

The third-annual pride flag raising ceremony was held outside of City Hall in honor of national Pride Month. At 4 o’clock, Mayor Morse raised the flag in support of LGBT community.

He says although there was a great turnout and a lot of support, there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done.

Mayor Morse told 22News, “There’s still struggles when it comes to acceptance, and bullying and youth suicide, LGBT homelessness. There’s still a lot of issues we need to make progress on and really this country frankly has a long way to go.”

Mayor Morse has several other LGBT events in the works for this month, including a Family Pride Day. For other city events, Click Here.
