Montague scooter operator charged with drug possession

MONTAGUE, Mass. (WWLP) – Montague Police say a man was pulled over for riding a scooter without a helmet and was arrested for illegally possessing prescription drugs.

Montague Police say officers pulled over Jimmy Hastings, 40, on Sunday after he was spotted riding a scooter without a helmet on Seventh Street in Turners Falls. According to police, Hastings was riding on a suspended license and he was placed under arrest. When police searched him, officers allegedly found several prescription drugs including morphine, suboxone, clonazepam and lamotrigine for which Hastings did not have prescriptions.

Hastings was charged with operating on a suspended license, a subsequent offense, as well as possession of a Class A, B, and E substance without a prescription. He was also issued a civil fine for failure to wear a helmet while operating a scooter.
