Seattle approves $15 minimum wage

SEATTLE, Wash. (KING) Seattle now boasts the highest minimum wage in the country.

The Seattle city council passed an ordinance that bumps up the minimum wage to $15-dollars an hour.

The ordinance was drafted by an advisory group of labor, business and nonprofit representatives convened by Seattle Mayor Ed Murray.

The plan includes a phase-in of the wage increase over several years, with special considerations for small businesses.
