Scattered power outages throughout WMass

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A thunderstorm passed through western Massachusetts Tuesday night, and caused power outages in several cities and towns.

Both WMECo and National Grid maps were showing power outages in Berkshire, Hampshire and Hampden Counties. Towns in Berkshire County experienced the most power outages.

The thunderstorm passed through western Massachusetts starting around 5:30 p.m. and was quickly followed by power outages. Williamstown was hit the hardest with at one point 1,469 National Grid customers without power. Also, hit hard was Pittsfield where about 244 WMECo customers were without power for about three hours.

Worthington, Cummington, Plainfield, Montague, Ashfield, Hancock, Stockbridge, Lee, and Longmeadow also had power outage Tuesday night.

On top of the power outages and thunderstorms, a Flash Flood Warning was in effect for Berkshire County, but it expired at 8:45 p.m.
