Holyoke P.D. cite dump truck driver in bus crash

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke police cited the dump truck driver involved in a frightening school bus crash on Friday for running a red light.

Holyoke police told 22News the truck driver from A Martins & Sons Construction out of Ludlow was responsible for running a red light as the truck slammed into a school bus full of children.

Police aren’t releasing the name of the driver.

Surveillance video captured a dump truck colliding with a school bus carrying more than 30 kids on Friday. About nine people went to the hospital, including seven kids and both drivers.  The students were coming home from the E.N. White Elementary School in Holyoke.

All of the children and the bus drivers were out of the hospital by Saturday.

The investigation continues, but no criminal charges are expected.
