Missing teen found, arrested in Palmer

PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – Palmer Police asked Wilbraham Police for help looking for a teenager who was presumed missing Monday night.

Wilbraham Police Captain Bob Zollo told 22News that Palmer Police called Wilbraham  P.D. at about 8:45 p.m. Monday and told them they were looking for a “16 year old boy on a kayak.”

“They asked us to go to the “Red Bridge Road boat ramp,” Said Captain Zollo, “and take a look.  We sent a District officer to the boat ramp, and he checked it out. He didn’t see anything and we cleared the scene.”

Palmer Police Sgt. Erin Sullivan told 22News the teen had been involved in a domestic disturbance, and police were looking for him out of concern for his mental and emotional well being.  Sgt. Sullivan said Police located the teen Monday night and arrested him on a charge of domestic assault and battery.  Sgt. Sullivan told 22News the alleged victim was the teenager’s mother’s live-in boyfriend.

“No one was injured,” Sullivan said.  The teen is being charged as a juvenile and police are not releasing his identity.

The Red Bridge Road boat ramp is on the Chicopee River near a point where Palmer, Wilbraham and Ludlow intersect, according to Captain Zollo.
