Man killed in jump from French King Bridge

GILL, Mass. (WWLP) – Earlier Monday, Gill Police received reports that a man had jumped off the French King Bridge. The bridge spans the Connecticut River, connecting Gill and Erving along Route 2.

State Police Sgt. Dana Lavigne told 22News that the man is currently submerged in the water, and has died.

According to Mary Carey of the Northwestern D.A. office, the Mass. State Police and Northfield Dive Team divers are expected to search the Connecticut River on Tuesday, if the flow rate allows.

Any boaters along the Connecticut River south of the bridge are encouraged to report any suspicious observations to the State Police, or simply call 911.
