Holyoke firefighter resigns amid internal drug investigation

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Holyoke firefighter has resigned as the result of an internal investigation surrounding drug possession.

That’s according to Rory Casey, the Chief of Staff for Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse. Casey told 22News an allegation was made that  involved drug possession.

A firefighter resigned, and an internal investigation was launched. The Holyoke Police and the District Attorney’s Office are also investigating. So far, no arrests have been made, and the name of the firefighter is not being given out.

Casey told 22News the union contract for both firefighters and police officers does not allow for random drug screenings.

As of news time, our calls to the Holyoke Fire and Police Departments were not returned.
