GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — A Gloucester County mother convicted of severely abusing one child is now accused of murdering a second child.
Last June, a judge sentenced Gloucester couple Brian and Shannon Gore to 30 years in prison for the horrific abuse of their six-year-old daughter. They were found guilty of keeping her in a cage and nearly starving her to death. She weighed just 15 pounds when investigators rescued her.
They had also been charged with the murder of their seven-month-old son, Connor, who the Gores claim died unexpectedly in March 2008. The bones of the young son were found buried under a shed in a box behind their mobile home. Prosecutors dropped the murder charges due to lack of evidence.
Now the mother is facing that murder charge again.
A source tells 10 On Your Side that law enforcement officers tried to serve the warrant for murder against Shannon this past weekend, but there was a staffing problem at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, where she is now incarcerated.
WAVY.com contacted Gloucester County Commonwealth’s Attorney Holly Smith, who would not comment, but said her office will make a statement later this week.
Our source presumes that Brian Gore will also be charged with murder. He is in prison at the Powhatan Correctional Center.
