(WCVB/CNN) – A middle school music teacher and guidance counselor in Massachusetts is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old student, both at school and in his home.
Police say 31-year-old Brian McBride admitted to his actions, but at his arraignment Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of statutory rape.
Police say McBride admitted to having sex with a 14-year-old student and sending sexually explicit texts to another teen.
“He stated that he knew that this was wrong, that he knew that he was a mandatory reporter, and that due to recent marital problems, he found the attention given to him by this 14-year-old girl hard for him to resist.”
Prosecutors say McBride blamed a 7-year-itch in his marriage and admitted to having sex with the teen at North Attleboro Middle School, in a car at the Emerald Square Mall and in his home.
“And he had his one-year-old child in a car seat in the back. He picked her up from her home, at which point they went to his house, and she stated that they had sexual relations in his master bedroom. She has described photos on the wall, pictures of his wife during their wedding ceremony.”
In a statement the superintendent of schools said she is cooperating with authorities adding that “the teacher in question has been notified of his termination. We will not tolerate egregious acts against innocent children.”
His attorney says McBride was a music teacher who was appointed a guidance counselor earlier this year.
The alleged victim’s father had heard enough and shouted at McBride until officers led both men out of the courtroom.
McBride is being held on $30,000 bail.
