A team of Irish amateur boxers will square off against Olympic hopefuls from western Massachusetts.
The John Boyle O’Reilly Club will host the fights in Springfield. They’ll set up a ring in the parking lot on the night of June 24th.
Dean Fay heads up Western Massachusetts Amateur Boxing. He said, “It means so much to me to bring; boxing has done so much for so many different people, me included, keeping a lot of the kids out of trouble. A lot of these kids they train so hard all year long.”
By getting the word out to Irish American groups in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut, organizers hope to attract thousands of fight fans for the June 24th event.
