SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Registry of Motor Vehicles launched a series of forums to explain the new fee increases, but only one person showed up for Tuesday night’s meeting in Springfield.
Registrar Celia Blue explained registration, inspection and road test fees are going up to off-set a $50-million funding gap.
The one person who attended the meeting Tuesday had no problem with the new fees, but was concerned about the relocation the Springfield Registry.
Elizabeth Stevens of Springfield said, “This is a private developer who’s building something to satisfy the state, and there wasn’t any local conversation about this.”
The new, higher fees go into effect on July 1st of 2014.
