Police search for Springfield woman’s killer

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police are searching for the person responsible for killing an 18-year-old Springfield woman late Monday night.

Lenezzia Clarke of Central Street was found in front of 550 Union Street after being shot multiple times. The young woman was rushed to the hospital where she died just after midnight.

The victim’s friends were hanging flowers in her memory Tuesday on Union Street. They told 22News she will be missed.

“She never cared what anybody thought about her, she always did her own thing. She was so strong, and she’s been through a lot. She held up like this wasn’t meant for her man. (How much are you going to miss her?) I’m going to miss her lot man.”

This is the City’s third homicide of 2014. If you have any information, you are asked to call Springfield Police Detectives at (413) 787-6355, or you can anonymously “text a tip.”
