Bear sighting near Boston Road in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Some residents of Springfield’s Boston Road section were surprised to find a bear wandering through their neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that a fairly large adult bear was seen between 9:30 and 10:00 Tuesday morning on Biddle Street, which is located off Boston Road near the Wilbraham town line.

Delaney said that Springfield and Wilbraham police are on the lookout for the bear, but the animal has not been seen since the morning.

The bear sighting in Springfield comes one day after a bear sighting across the Chicopee River in Ludlow caused some concern shortly before the town’s Memorial Day parade.
