GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Greenfield police say that two men they arrested on heroin charges over the weekend tried to throw away the evidence.

The department posted on their official Facebook page that Stephen Hall, 24, and Kyle Bellows, 23, both of Greenfield, were arrested Saturday.

Police say that two police officers walking a patrol through the Greenfield Gardens apartments noticed some people on the nearby bike path that they believed were in the middle of a drug deal.

The officers identified themselves, and Bellows allegedly started running away. One of the officers chased him, while the other officer grabbed Hall, who they say tried to throw packets of suspected heroin to the ground.

Meanwhile, Bellows also allegedly threw packets of heroin as he ran from the officer. Police managed to catch Bellows, and both he and Hall were arrested.

A police dog was called-in to help them find the packets of suspected heroin, which were stamped with hearts and labeled “Passion.” In total, two bundles of 10 packets were found, as well as eight loose bags.

Hall is being charged with possession of a class A substance with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate the drug law, and drug distribution in a school or park.

Bellows is charged with possession of a class A substance and conspiracy to violate the drug law.
