Holyoke to mark Memorial Day with parade, ceremonies

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP)-  Memorial Day is when we remember and honor those who have died while serving our country. Ceremonies will be taking place across western Massachusetts Monday including the annual Holyoke Memorial Day Parade.

Events will begin with refreshments at 9 a.m. at the War Memorial, 310 Appleton St. At 9:30 veterans will place a wreath at the John F. Kennedy Memorial at Appelton and Suffolk Streets.

At 10:30, the parade begins marching at Appleton and Chestnut Streets, proceeding down Appleton to High Street, with a wreath placement at the Korean War Plaza between City Hall and City Hall Annex.

The parade will go to Lyman Street where wreaths will be placed at the Tadeusz Kosciuko Park and Gold Star Mothers Monument.  The parade will then turn left onto Maple Street and into Veterans Park.  The parade will end here at Veterans Park where there will be a ceremony.
