SHELBURNE FALLS, Mass. (WWLP) – Business owners along the Mohawk Trail in Franklin County look forward to heavy traffic during the Memorial Day Weekend.

22News found out that Route 2 east and west of Greenfield will be free of construction bottlenecks for the next few days, and that’s welcome news for Karen Hicks of Hager’s Farm market along the Mohawk Trail in Shelburne Falls.

She told 22News that she expects quite a lot of traffic from Connecticut and New Jersey.

“People are starting to open their homes up in the areas around here, rivers getting boaters with rafting and water sports,” she said.

Columbus Day Weekend attracts the most Mohawk Trail holiday traffic each year, but Memorial Day Weekend is also known to generate a substantial amount of traffic.
