Memorial Day ceremony held at Springfield City Hall

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts veterans joined city officials Friday for a Memorial Day Commemoration on the steps of Springfield City Hall.

The noontime ceremony held ahead of memorial day featured several high school army and Air Force JROTC members.

Jack Millot is an Air Force Veteran and member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 68 in Springfield.  He told 22News recognizing and honoring our military heroes shouldn’t be limited to just one weekend per year.

“It’s very important to honor not only on veteran and memorial day but year round, it’s something that people have forgotten about and veterans all deserve to be honored,” Millot told 22News.

As part of the commemoration, Wreaths were also laid at veteran monuments in Court Square.
