NEW YORK, New York (CNN) – In Flatbush, the scene of a disturbing crime. Police say two fourth grade boys tried to poison their 62 year old teacher with rat poison.
The boys were arrested, and charged as juveniles with attempted assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.
One is 9 years old, the other 12, both in the same class. The victim went to police after two other students told their parents they saw the boys spike their teacher’s drink the parents told the school.
“It’s poison. It could be given to kids as well. It’s a dangerous situation, not to be taken lightly.”
Derrel williams warned his little girl to say “no” to everything other kids offer her.
A third grade teacher who does not want to be identified says she believes she was almost poisoned three weeks ago. The water in her bottle was grey and murky. She says she alerted school officials but nothing was done.
No one has returned our several phone calls to p-s 315. Not surprising, says this parent who didn’t know about the scare until we told her.
Naomi primus told CNN “This happened on Monday. It’s Wednesday. Something should have gone out to let parents know.”
The department of education says safety is a priority and promises to take swift and appropriate action.
