Four sent to hospital after crash on I-91 in Holyoke

91 AX 052214 jmrHOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts State Police were diverting traffic on Interstate 91 North at Exit 17, after a four-vehicle accident Thursday evening.

According to Holyoke Fire Department Capt. Anthony Cerruti, firefighters went to the accident on I-91 to assist the State Police. The Jaws of Life had been requested to free one of people involved in the accident.

Capt. Cerruti said that four people were taken to the area hospitals, but are expected to survive.

The State Police twitter reported “ALL LANES OPEN” as of 8:10 p.m. The right and breakdown lanes were left open earlier for traffic while police cleared the area.

A 22News crew went to the accident and saw two ambulances leaving the area. Also, as you can see in the video above, the rear of a black car was smashed in and being towed away.
