Getting ready for Memorial Day weekend business

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – Many families are already preparing their Memorial Day weekend plans.

During this time off, it’s not uncommon to see long lines at area ice cream stands, and packed parking lots at Look Park in Florence. Golf courses are also busy.

Those are just a few of the destinations people will be venturing out to during this upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

22News visited the Family Golf Center in Hadley on Thursday. It’s a place where there’s something for the whole family.

The rain was coming down on Thursday, but they have covered driving range tees. A little wetness didn’t stop anybody from taking a swing at it, including Brian Pitta of Northampton.

“Oh it’s a blast. You have the driving range, mini-golf with the family. You can come here and make an afternoon out of it,” said Pitta.

That’s what they hope people will do this coming Memorial Day weekend.

With batting cages, a mini-golf course, 50 grass driving range tees and 70-degree weather forecast.

“Absolutely perfect for the conditions that you have out on the golf course. Plus the mini gold draws a lot of people. Sometime over a weekend we’ll do about 300 people,” said Tom Toski, the golf teaching director.

Manager Neal Hollrock told 22News Memorial Day weekend signals an unofficial start to summer.

“We still have to get the paintball going and the pedal cars. But other than that just mini golf, driving range, batting range. Hopefully it’s a good sunny day and we get a lot of people hitting. Usually the grass tees are pretty full on Memorial Day,” said Hollrock.

The Family Golf Center is open daily from 10 in the morning until 7 at night.
