SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police arrested a couple of drug dealers who were selling marijuana from a backpack on Miller Street near Van Horn Park.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that 21-year-old Jovan Murphy and 20-year-old Phason Hernandez were arrested.

Sgt. Delaney said Springfield police received numerous complaints from people living in the area about the dealers. So detectives set up surveillance and after seeing the men sell their weed, police arrested them.

Both men are being charged with:

  1. Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute
  2. Violation of a Drug Free Park Zone

Detectives seized Marijuana packaged for sale, money, packaging material, and confiscated Murphy’s cell phone which contained numerous texts about selling weed, said Sgt. Delaney.

They were arraigned Thursday in Springfield District Court.
