AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Eight ducklings who fell down a storm drain in Agawam are safe, after they were rescued Wednesday afternoon.
Lynn Cressotti of Agawam told 22News that she called the DPW and Animal Control after she and her husband noticed a mother duck pacing around the sewer drain across from their Randall Street home.
DPW workers opened the drain, and they were able to lure eight of the ducklings out of the 300-foot long tube.
“My husband was using a duck call on his cell phone and I had a bucket in there with a rope, and one of the DPW workers was trying to block them. Then we shoveled them into a bucket, pull the bucket up and put them in a box,” Cressotti said.
The mother duck ran off during the rescue, but animal control left the babies where they last saw her in hopes that she will return for ducklings.
