Bike path planned along Green River

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Now that bicycle riding weather is back, Franklin County bicyclists may soon have another picturesque bike path to travel.

The town of Greenfield is creating a new bike path along the Green River. The plan calls for extending a discontinued section of Meade Street into the woods.

Avid Greenfield bicycle rider David Boles told 22News that Franklin County needs more bike paths.

“I’m one hundred and fifty percent behind a bike path. I would like to see bike paths go into Amherst and Northampton,” Boles said.

Right now, Riverside Greenway is Greenfield’s multi-use bike path.

The town will have two if the state approves money requested by Greenfield’s Planning and Development Department.
