NORTH QUABBIN, Mass. (WWLP) – Hundreds of volunteers have been collecting food and monetary donations since 6 o’clock Tuesday morning as part of the 11th Annual Food-a-Thon.
The donations will benefit six food pantries and meal programs in the North Quabbin area.
Peter Gerry from Pete’s Tire Barn also donated the use of his trucks to help collect the donations. He told 22News, “This is one of Pete’s Tire Barn trucks and we will fill four of these trucks for the food pantries plus we raise in excess of $30,000 generally.”
Food-a-Thon organizers hope to raise more than $40,000 this year. They’ve also collected more than 15,000 individual food items.
