Mother seeks justice for deceased son in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The mother of Josh Messier had a table set up at the NAMI walkathon on Sunday, seeking justice for her son, who was killed on March 4th of 2009 at Bridgewater State Mental Hospital.

Josh was a patient there. His death was ruled a homicide.

He had a heart attack after hospital guards allegedly handcuffed Messier and pushed his chest almost to his knees.

His mother is trying to get signatures to petition Attorney General Martha Coakley to appoint a special prosecutor to go before a grand jury.
